Well, the ENC has headed north for the annual Presidents Day weekend ice-out. Staying once again at Cove Point Lodge near Beaver Bay, the temperature and wind made it hard for us to leave the cottage yesterday, Sunday, February 16. But having planned to visit the International Wolf Center in Ely, we climbed in the vehicles and made the 71 mile trek. The Center was great-- an added bonus was that as we headed back to Cove Point, we actually saw a wolf loping along the road before it ducked into the woods. We'd just been told that it is rare to see a wolf in the wild.
We lunched at the Chocolate Moose, then headed to the park. This was the weekend of Winterfest, and part of it was a snow sculpture competition. Here are a couple of entries.
And now for some photos of the wolves at the Center.

Lori and Scott set the bar for dinners pretty high last night. Garden salads, followed by beef stroganoff and steamed broccoli; with chocolate cake for dessert.
I'm afraid Christi or Lori will need to report on the Mexican Train Game and the Settlers of Catan, because I have apparently been recruited to be the perennial loser. I guess somebody needs to do it!
